In this section we present genealogies for various Feethams. The structure isn’t the best that could be used, and it will change
over time, once we decide on how we wish to present the data.
A lot of the information is incomplete, in that we haven’t yet crossed checked everything against parish records (which is our normal practice). But we’re pretty confident that the relationships are accurate.
Genealogy for John Feetham Gentleman of Houghton, Durham circa 1819
The relationships decribed here were extracted from the contents of two wills held at the Public Records Office in Kew. The indentation
represents the hierarchical relationships between the relatives.
So a parent will always be to the left, and a child to the right. John Feetham describes himself as a gentleman. I’m not sure if that indicates that he was a pretentious self made man, or someone who was born into money. His son John went on to become a coal merchant, and apparently had no legitimate heirs, leaving his estate to his brothers; nephews and neices. He also left an income to his housekeeper and her daughter, to last for the rest of their lives.
