Frank worked as a labourer at the Sheffield steel works prior to going to war.  When he joined the army on 16^th June 1908, the following description was noted:

Frank served in the 1^st York & Lancaster Regiment, and reached the rank of Corporal:

Appointed Corporal in the field 9.10.14
